The ORCOL Symposium was held on April 30th and May 1st, 2009, and hosted by the School of Human Kinetics at the Unversity of Ottawa in Ottawa, Ontario. The theme of the Symposium was "Leisure, Space, and Change", and examined the relationship of leisure to transformation across a variety of spaces where leisure occurs. Dr. Tim Cresswell of the University of London (U.K.) kicked off the Symposium with his keynote presentation, entitled "

A Special Issue of Leisure/Loisir, the journal of the Canadian Association for Leisure Studies, is planned focusing on "Leisure, Space, and Social Change". Building on the enthusiasm coming out of the 2009 ORCOL Symposium, the Co-Editors -- Drs. Dawn Trussell, Heather Mair, and Erin Sharpe -- invite expresssions of interest from prospective authors by August 15th, 2009. You can obtain a call for papers for this special issue here.
